(CHELSEA) The American Automobile Association (AAA) of Southern New England has recently honored the Chelsea Police Department with a Bronze Award for the department’s outstanding traffic safety programs. The award acknowledges that the department efforts have gone above and beyond the call of duty in making their community a safer place for motorists and residents. Specifically the Chelsea Police department has been recognized for its participation in traffic safety initiatives including: “Drive Sober of Get Pulled Over, Pedestrian Safety, Traffic safety, and Click it or Ticket.”
AAA also recognized an honored Officer Richard Bellomo with the AAA of Southern New England Traffic Safety Hero of the Year Award for 2014. Officer Bellomo was rewarded for his hard work and dedication to traffic and pedestrian safety.
Chief Brian Kyes praised not only the dedicated work of Officer Bellomo but also that of the entire department. He stated, “It is refreshing to see one of our officers recognized for dedicated service to the community; there is no doubt that Officer Bellomo’s efforts have made Chelsea a safer place.” He also added, “Officer Bellomo would be the first to say that the award is reflective of all the men and woman of the Chelsea Police Department who without fanfare work tirelessly to make Chelsea a safer place for motorists and pedestrians.”
