A Chelsea Police Officer was treated and released for non-life threatening injuries after his cruiser was struck by a motorist who failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection at Shawmut St and Central Ave. At 10:51 p.m., the officer and other Chelsea units were responding to a separate motor vehicle accident on Willow Street. The injured officer was traveling on Central Ave when a 2016 Mazda, operated by a 36 year old female Chelsea resident, collided with his cruiser. The female operator did not require medical attention at the scene. The Chelsea Police Department issued a citation for failure to stop at a stop sign.
