Chelsea Police and State Police Detectives assigned to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the hit and run death of an unidentified male. Chelsea units responded at 12:01AM Saturday morning to a report of pedestrian struck on Sixth Street at Walnut Street. The victim was taken to CHA in Everett were he later died. Officers learned that the suspect vehicle described as a black sedan fled the area. Police used surveillance video and other investigative leads that led them to a home in Peabody.
A person of interest, Ian Flynn age 26, of 6 Tremont Place Peabody was arrested early this morning at his home for OUI (2nd offense) by State and Chelsea Detectives. A vehicle matching the descriptions was seized at that address and will be processed by State Police Lab Technicians. Flynn will likely face more charges as Chelsea and State Police continue the investigation.
The deceased has not been identified, and is described as a male in his 40’s. Detectives are working to locate next of kin. If anyone has information on his identity, they are asked to call the Chelsea Police at 617-466-4800.
