Chelsea and Massachusetts State Police Detectives are investigating a non-fatal shooting that occurred early this morning. Chelsea officers responded at 12:30 AM to 46 Shawmut Street on a report of multiple gunshots. Officers arrived and located a 30-year-old male victim that was struck twice in the leg and arm. The victim was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston to be treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Witnesses report two male suspects males fled on foot after the shooting.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the incident was isolated and not random. Chelsea officers recovered a firearm and other evidence in a nearby location. The State Police Crime Services Unit secured that evidence for processing.
The case is active and on-going and is being investigated jointly by Chelsea and State Police Investigators assigned to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.
